This is the Discord client.
It's just a frame, with some channels and buttons.
It's our window to chat with our friends.
We love Discord, but its feature set can be limiting.
What if a client mod could help us add to it?
Could a client mod help make Discord more useful?

At the Vencord Company, we're building a better way to use Discord.

When we think about using Discord, we often ignore the client itself. Instead, we think about all the things we do‐the channels we read, the messages we send, the screenshares we watch. The software that enables it all, the client, is so ubiquitous that it's ignored.

Despite the ways our Discord use has evolved, the client has remained relatively unchanged. While all of our other software tools are changing for the better‐with more collaborative features, flexible interfaces, and powerful functionality‐the client largely still does what it did nine years ago.

What's more, we blame ourselves for the client's shortcomings. When our client has an overwhelming number of servers, we call ourselves inefficient; when we get distracted by memes, we tell ourselves we need more discipline; when we can't find a channel, we think we're disorganized. Why does the client get a free pass?

That's why we're building a new client mod, which we call Vencord, because we believe clients can do so much more to empower us. We're imaging a client that can think as quickly as we do, take work off of our plates, and pull our creativity forward. A client equipped for the way we use Discord in 2024, and foundational for how we hope to use it in the future.

Support

Beyond our team, we're lucky to be supported by our family and friends, as well as donators who played a role in some of our favorite client mods over the years. We've raised over $1 dollar from a diverse group that includes people who don't really like us, No Text To Speech fans, and people who found us on Google. We're always grateful for new perspectives and shared learnings from experience. If you'd like to lend a hand, please join our Discord server.

Feel free to join our announcements, and we promise you'll be among the first to play with our new plugins.

Happy April Fools :)
